Pottstown Hospital Members Ask Hospital Board for a Fair Contract

70 members at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center paid a surprise visit to the hospital's Board of Directors during their meeting on October 26th. The workers were joined by the Mayor of Pottstown and Doug Pike who is running for Congress in the 6th Congressional district. Negotiations on a new contract at the hospital have stalled over management's proposal to triple family health care premiums and eliminate the workers' pension.

A number of workers addressed the board an told them what huge cuts in benefits and increases in costs would mean for them in their family. One of the workers who has worked at the hospital for 41 years talked about the importance of the pension to her plans for retirement. She was followed by Melissa Costello, a lab technician at the hospital. Melissa talked about the need for affordable family health care coverage and asked the board members to sign our petition for a fair contract:

PJ McGill also spoke about the importance of the hospital to the Pottstown community and surrounding region:

Help these dedicated hospital workers win a contract that rewards their service with affordable family health care and a secure retirement. Sign this petition.
