Members Win New Contract at Southwest Regional Medical Center

The members at Southwest Regional Medical Center in Waynesburg, PA ratified a new 3 year contract with the hospital. The new contract will let workers share in the recent success and growth of the hospital.

The many improvements the workers won in this contract include:

  • Average wage increases for nurses of 7% in the first year and 3% in the 2nd and 3rd years.
  • Wage increases between 3.5% and 9% for all other workers in the first year with 3% in the next two years.
  • Better health care benefits at a lower cost than what employees currently have.
  • A commitment to work with the Unit-based Patient Care Committees

"We're really happy with the contract. The raises and lower health insurance co-pays will make it easier for everyone to deal with the hard times we're all facing," said Stacy Sholtis, a Pharmacy Technician at SRMC.

In 2006 the hospital was bought by Essent Healthcare. Since then, the workers at this small community hospital in Green County have been working to improve their jobs and the care they provide the community. Recently, the hospital has been expanding services and admitting more patients.

"There have been a lot of good changes at our hospital in the last couple years. We look forward to working with management to make sure our hospital continues to grow and we can better serve our patients," said Stacy.
