LPNs, CNAs and Other Workers at Phoebe Homes Win New Contract

The Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and other service and maintenance workers at the Phoebe Home in Allentown and Phoebe Berks in Wernersville voted on Friday, October 30th to ratify a new four year union contract.

“We’re very happy with this contract because it means we’ll be able to recruit and retain the best staff so that our residents will continue to get the highest quality care around,” said Jackie Roberts a CNA at the Phoebe Home in Allentown.

The new contract provides steady wage increases totaling $1.85 over 4 years. The raises will ensure that Phoebe workers continue to set the standard for nursing home compensation in the region. For example, a CNA at the Phoebe Home with one year of service will earn $18.13 an hour by the end of the contract, while a CNA at Phoebe Berks will earn over $17 an hour. The contract also maintains affordable health care benefits and the employer’s contribution to workers’ 401(k) accounts.

“This contract gives us economic security during tough times. When other businesses are cutting pay and benefits, we were able to negotiate fair wage increases and keep our benefits,” said Tammy Robinson a CNA at Phoebe Berks in Wernersville.
