Help Provide Comfort to Those That Have Served

Wounded Warrior ProjectTo better serve and assist our veterans, we are partnering with The Wounded Warrior Project, a national organization that provides programs and services to service members severely injured on or after September 11, 2001 during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life.

For our first project, we will be collecting quilts, sweat suits, tennis shoes, and other comfortable clothing to distribute to service men and women during their long trip home from Afghanistan. The quilts, usually handmade, provide a touch from home that troops love so much.  Our committee will also be working to provide additional items, such as hand warmers, toiletries and more, to troops that are still active and embedded in the countryside.

If you or anyone at your church or community are interested in donating to either of these programs or organizing a ‘quilting bee,’ please contact Tom Whitehouse at 800-252-3894. The quilts and other items will be sent to a contact in Afghanistan and distributed from there.

If you are interested in this project or other ways we can help veterans re-adjust to civilian life and get back on their feet, sign up for the SEIU Healthcare PA Veterans Committee or find us on Facebook.
