Mountain City Workers Join Other Extendicare Homes in SEIU Healthcare PA

On Wednesday, April 9th, close to 170 workers at Extendicare Mountain City chose to join SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania and be united with the hundreds of other Extendicare workers. Together they are working hard to make the care they provide the best it possibly can be, and set standards for quality across the nursing home industry.

Extendicare management at the home agreed to respect the workers' right to form a union and remained neutral during the election. The certified nursing assistants, clerks, dietary workers, activity assistants, transportation assistants at Mountain City voted nearly 5 to 1 for the union while workers in the housekeeping and laundry departments - employed by Healthcare Services Group - voted unanimously to form their union.
